Beautiful Disaster by Jaime McGuire

Beautiful DisasterReviewed by Katie
Date Read: 30th December, 2011
Date Published: 26th May, 2011 (Kindle)
Blurb: The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend America, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.
Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the charming college co-ed. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’ apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match

Review: This is a phenomenal read, after having a night's sleep I still can't put together any words that describe what a phenomenal book this was, and I feel so amazed to have read this. I have been wanting to read this for such a long time and once I got my kindle on Christmas day I didn't hesitate to buy it. After I had read A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davis I didn't know what book to read next, I wanted to read a printed book because I got quite a few for Christmas so I started reading Awake at Dawn by C.C Hunter. But I have to be in the mood to read a book, and I was not in the mood to read Awake at Dawn so I straight away turned to Beautiful Disaster and my gosh, I wish I had a kindle when it first came out to read this, it's too fantastic to put into words and I am not lying to you but I think that this is the best book that I have read this year and from every book that I have ever read and will read. I very highly recommend this book to everyone even if you are not keen on contempory books because I wasn't that sure about them, but after reading Beautiful Disaster I definitely am going to start reaidng more contempory books even though I know that they won't be as good as Beautiful Disaster but I love books that are very realitic and it's so great to get away from paranormal reads too.

This book was so fresh and the story fitted extremely well together, the characters were amazing and they had me crying, laughing and smiling. I sometimes was even feeling for the characters, I have gasped, had butterflies flying frantically around in my stomach. I haven't had so many emotions whilst reading a book!

If I could carry on talking about Beautiful Disaster then believe me, I would, but I don't want to ramble on too much. But I can tell you that this books deserves even more than the overall ratings and this book has lead me to the conclusion that everything in life isn't perfect and you won't get your happily ever after like you do in paranormal books (ignore the supernatural creatures in them!) but to get your happily ever after to you have to jump hurdles and fight for what you believe and never give up. I can definitely see life through a new perspective and respect it so much more. But this book really was a Beautiful Disaster

Review: Wow, this book was phenomenal! I started reading at about 1am up until 3:45am - went to sleep! - and then I started reading about 11am until I finished it in the same day! It's been a very long time since I've read a book in a day and hopefully that should hint to you that I really enjoyed reading this book! Also, it was my first book that I read on my kindle which makes it extra special! :D

I really enjoyed the plot and how everything was set out, it flowed from chapter to chapter and the authors style of writing was really good. Through most of the book, I was forever chainging what team I was on, Team Asher, Team Devin ... It wouldn't stop and despite the ending I still have no idea!

Devin is a character who will do what he has been ordered and is very caring towards Skye, whereas Asher is a character that rebels, likes to show off and charm but underneath all of that is a caring aswell. So both characters are very different yet are the same. (That sounds...weird!) I also liked that through every chapter, tehy were there, and if it wasn't both then it would be either one. It was snice to have the male characters always there rather than popping in and out of her life.

A Beautiful Dark doesn't quite reach 5 stars because even though it did stand out as an amazing book to me, it did have a few hiccups, like Devin said that he wouldn't do anything unless he was ordered to do it, yet he healed Syke's ankle. Although, this was a fantastic read and now I have to wait to see what happens after that torturing cliffhanger in A Fractured Light .

My Soul to Steal by Rachel Vincent

My Soul to Steal (Soul Screamers, #4)Reviewed by Katie
Date Read: 25th December, 2011
Date Published: 17th July, 2011
Blurb: Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But “complicated” doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.
See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.
And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

Review: I love this series so when I finally started reading My Soul to Steal I was thrilled, but I must admit that because in UK we sometimes have to wait for the realease date whereas in America it's been out a few months before (not fair!!) so I couldn't resist looking at a few reviews for it, they seemed great so I looked at the fifth book's reviews and saw some spoilers! Ohh, my brain kicked my heart and I was left with the punishment of remembering, but I'm glad because I know that I can love the series even more! :D I have however learnt my lesson but sometimes its just too tempting!
I hate Sabine. Die.Die.Die. But DON'T. I am no longer Team Nash and I have switched to TEAM TOD!!! And I just hope that Tod and Kaylee do start a relationship and hopefully have a happily ever after. (I swear if there isn't a happily ever after I will cry.) I still do like Nash because he's been going through a hard time but Sabine isn't making it any easier on him because of what she's making Kaylee believe. You can see that Nash is trying his hardest and it did break my heart a little, but, from my point of view, Kaylee deserves better than Nash.
As you might have noticed, it has taken me a little under a month to finish this book. It isn't because I dindt enjoy it, because I did but I was taking a bit of timeout on reading for a while but now I'm back (with a kindle, too!) and I'm happily reading again. I can't wait for the fifth book because I've read on a few reviews about Tod and Kaylee and I'm so excited! :D Team Tod.
